Tawny Owls Y1

Spring Term – Totally Terrific Toys
Hello Tawny Owls!
Wow, what a fabulous Autumn term we have had! It has been wonderful to see how much progress you have all made so far in Year One - we are very proud of how hard-working you all are and how you all have a go at all our learning challenges.
Over the next term we will be learning through our topic of Totally Terrific Toys. We will be learning about the history of toys and how they have changed over the years, including how the materials used have changed. We will explore materials through our Science learning. We also have our in-school experience from the Oxford Museum Service at the end of January.
Staffing will continue as with the last term:
Mrs Pearce will be with us on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Mrs Sansom will be with us on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Miss B will support our learning at different times throughout the week.
Mrs Quartermain will support our learning on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
On Thursdays we will have PE with Mr Pearce in the morning, please come into school wearing your PE kit. Please continue to bring a change of shoes for after PE.
We hope you all have the most wonderful Christmas break and we look forward to welcoming you back in the new year!
See you soon!
Mrs Pearce, Mrs Sansom, Miss B and Mrs Quartermain

During the Spring term we will be continuing to look at alternative pronunciations for graphemes, as well as spotting known digraphs in psuedo words. These are the words that follow our sound patterns but are made up nonsense words. We will also continue to consolidate our learning and apply it to both our reading and writing.
