Barn Owls Year 2

Dear Barn Owls and Families,
Thank you so much for the thoughtful and generous Christmas gifts. Your kindness truly meant a great deal and was very much appreciated.
As we begin a new year, I would like to wish you all a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year. I’m looking forward to welcoming you all back and also excited to continue our learning journey together. There are many fun and meaningful experiences ahead, and I can’t wait to see all that we will achieve as the Barn Owls class of 2026.
This term we will have a focus on independent activities during our topic subjects, this will mean that after the teaching input you will have a greater choice of how to present your own learning.
We would encourage your Show and Tell time to focus on things you are passionate about and that are important to you. This could be your family, pet, clubs, skills and hobbies etc. We’d love to find out more about you! I will add the Show and Tell rota for this term to the information at the bottom of this page.
One of our overarching themes is to develop our understanding of the human rights of children, including children’s rights to a safe home. We will be exploring what this means to children across the world, and we hope to work with the amazing charity "Save the Children."
We will also be starting our guided reading sessions and looking at the book, “The Hodgeheg” by Dick King-Smith. Thank you to the children that have already brought their copies into school.
There will be some changes to the timetable for you this term. On a Thursday you will have forest school during the afternoon. Therefore, please come to school in your school uniform and bring your named forest school clothes in a separate bag. You will go home wearing your forest school clothes, unless they are very muddy! Plenty of warm layers and waterproof clothing will be needed.
P.E will now be on a Friday after lunch. Please come to school wearing your Great Milton P.E kit.
Please remember to bring in a SMALL water bottle each day, we don’t have room for the large bottle/Cups that children are starting to bring in. Could I also ask that you bring in either a book bag or a small back pack as again we are short of space in the cloakroom where the children’s bags are stored. We do have daily snacks available for everyone to share but if you would like to send an additional snack into school please can you kindly bring in breadsticks and dips, cheese, plain rice cakes or a selection of fruit and vegetables.
As always please get in touch if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them promptly via the school office email address.
Thank you again for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to an exciting term of learning, growth, and new adventures together!
Best Wishes
Mrs Bennett
