Boreal Owls Y4

November 2025

Welcome back to the second part of our Autumn Term! I hope you all had a lovely week off.

PE Days: PE Days this term will be Wednesdays and Fridays The children will need to come to school dressed in the correct school PE kit on those days. This includes a logo-free navy or black hoodie/top, plain white or school T-shirt, logo-free navy or black shorts or joggers. The children will be having PE with Mr Pearce again this term.

Forest School : We are going to be doing Forest School this term on Mondays. The children can come to school in their Forest School clothes.  Please ensure they have waterproof coats and trousers as they will go out in all weather. Wellies and walking boots are also essential.  Hats and gloves could be a useful addition as the weather could be quite cold this term.

Homework: A fortnightly maths sheet is sent home based upon the children's learning in the classroom for that week. This is only fortnightly rather than weekly in order to give the children homework time for times table practice ( see below for more details).  Spelling lists will be sent home for each term and tests will be on Tuesdays. The children will also have a creative grid where they can choose an activity to complete during the term. Please see below for this term's spelling sheets and creative grid.

Times tables : In the summer term, the children will undertake the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) which all Year 4 children across the country do.  The expectation is that children leave Year 4 knowing their timetables fluently. With short, regular practice, I find that most children manage this well, and it is time well spent as it really helps them with all areas of maths, especially as they go into Year 5/6.  So, please encourage your child to use TTRS at home or any other games and activities that help them to learn them. Below, I have attached some practice sheets and posters that might be useful.

Contacting us: Please catch me sooner rather than later if anything is worrying you. The end of the day is the best time, or email us through the office.

Best Wishes,

Sara Marah
