Barn Owls Year 2
Welcome to Barn Owls!
I hope that you have all had a wonderful summer and enjoyed your time together.
I hope this message finds you well and full of excitement as we embark on our year two journey together this school year! I would like to welcome each one of you to our class. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, I would like you to know that you are an important part of our school and class family, and I am looking forward to these first few weeks of getting to know each other.
This year is filled with many opportunities for growth, learning, and discovery. We will explore new ideas, challenge ourselves, and most importantly, support one another every step of the way.
To the families: I look forward to working with you in partnership. Together, we will ensure that your child feels valued, supported, and encouraged in their academic and personal growth. Your involvement and support are so important to us.
As we set out on this new adventure, let’s remember to embrace challenges with a positive mindset, celebrate each success—big or small—and never forget that learning is a journey, not a race. Mistakes are simply stepping stones to greater understanding, and every day presents a new chance to improve.
I am also delighted to introduce India Andrews to our class. Miss Andrews will be joining us on our learning journey in Barn Owls for 3 days each week during the next few terms whilst working on a SCITT qualification to become a primary school teacher. Miss Andrews has recent experience of working in key stage one, and we are all looking forward to working with her and supporting her on her journey too.
This term you will have PE with Mr Pearce on a Monday and Thursday. You will be working on the topics defend, attack and shoot on a Monday and gymnastics on a Thursday. Please come to school wearing the correct school PE kit.
Please bring in reading diaries each day. We will aim to hear you read individually twice a week, and have separate guided reading sessions that will slowly increase over the year. In addition, there will be daily reading during our phonics sessions too. We will encourage children to change their books independently when needed. As always, we encourage you to read as much as possible with your child at home.
I will send home information on our home learning in year two in a few weeks. Home learning will be sent home in individual folders on a Friday, and we ask that they are returned by the following Thursday please.
Please bring in a named water bottle each day. We strongly encourage you to bring in water. You will still be able to select a snack from school daily, but you are able to bring in any additional healthy snacks to enjoy. We would recommend rice cakes, breadsticks, fruit and vegetables.
As always, if you have any questions about anything, then please come and see me at the end of the school day or if you are unable to, then contact me by email via the school office.
I cannot wait to see all the amazing things we will accomplish together this year.
Best Wishes
Mrs Bennett
