Snowy Owls Y3

Welcome to Snowy Owls!

I hope you are enjoying a relaxing half term.

Below is the main information you need to know for Term Four.

Topic:

This term we carry on with the topic: How do rivers flow?

We will be extending our knowledge of the river local to our school as well as looking at rivers in the UK and other parts of the world. We will also be looking at our local area and how we can protect it.

We have had some fabulous homework about rivers which is displayed in our classroom.

Homework:

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

On top of the homework given out on a Friday, it would be great if you could read with your child at least three times per week and sign their reading diaries (they will earn 1 dojo point for every three times they read and have their diaries signed at home.

The children will have spellings every week and every other week another piece of homework.

On the week when only spellings are sent home, please can the children spend some time on Times Table Rock Stars and there is also the option to choose something from the homework grid to complete.

Spellings:

Spelling tests will be on a Thursday morning.

The children will take home a look, cover, write sheet. Please can they complete all the columns before returning it with their homework on a Wednesday.

PE:

PE this term is on a Monday with Mr Pearce and on a Friday with Mrs Dickson.

Please send your child to school dressed in their PE kit. The PE Kit should consist of the following: navy, black or grey bottoms (shorts/ joggers/ PE skirt), white T-Shirt and navy, black or grey warm hoodie/ top if required. They need to come to school in their school shoes and have trainers with them to change into for PE. This is so that they have clean shoes in the classroom.

Forest school:

This term the class will have Forest School with Mrs Howlett on a Thursday.

Please come to school in your school uniform with a change of clothes to change into. The children will go out in all weathers, so plenty of warm layers, waterproofs and wellies are essential!

Whole Class Reading:

We will carry on reading 'The Wild Robot' by Peter Brown.  It would be great if your child could have their own copy in school. Here is a link to where you can buy it (other shops are available as well):                              https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wild-Robot-Peter-Brown/dp/1848127278

Please can you make sure your child has outdoor shoes or wellies to change into for break and lunch as well as a waterproof coat every day.

Our cloakroom is very small in Snowy Owls so please can I ask that the children only bring the essentials to school (book bag, water bottle (water only please) and packed lunch).

As the children are now in KS2 they no longer receive a snack at school, so please send them with a healthy snack (fruit or vegetables) for break time.

Please contact me via the office (office@greatmiltonschool.co.uk) if you have any questions or there is anything that you need us to know.
